Cadbury Chocolate Harder to Melt

Cadbury bar

Found this story rather interesting. Won’t apply to us here in the USA (AZ could be a candidate tho) since it’s an Eastern Asia product,  but shows how candy science marches on!

No Goo-Goo Shortages!

No Goo-Goo shortage at my house!

Yes, I’m pleased to report that there will be no shortages of G00-Goo Clusters in the Parker housefold for the near future. A generous client found out that an acquaintance had an “in” with the Nashville candy manufacturer so she arranged for these samples to be sent to me. So, to her I say “thanks” [...]

“Hot Chocolate” has new meaning!

Photo: Joseph Erdos. This calls for a taste test… serve it with Mexican cocoa and macaroons for the total taste bonanza!

A New Holiday Fudge

Gingerbread fudge is new to me but it sure sounds appealing. I found it on this site. Let me know how it turns out if you decide to make some yourself!

Fun and Delicious Competition

One of the best dark chocolates.

This is the kind of contest I like and would like to judge (hint, hint)

Mars Is Missing!

Before you run out to call your local Astronomical Society or the Feds, let me hasten to point out that I am talking about one of my favorite childhood candy bars (this is a candy site, after all), the Mars bar. It was a special candy bar, as I recall, because it was a little larger, or so it seemed, and might have cost a little more.
I was very surprised to learn that it had been discontinued in 2002, after going thru some modifications, one of which was the removal of the whole almonds that were on the top (see 5th Avenue story elsewhere on this site). The almonds were another reason they were special to me.
I just read however that the Mars bar was reintroduced last year (2010), however I have not found any on store shelves, thus the title of this article. If you run across one, let me know so I can do a taste test and a photo shoot for this article.

Good & Plenty Candy Box Music

Licorice, retro candy, candy box music, whistle, candy whistle

Can you make a whistle out of this box?

Heard something very interesting on KQED-FM during the Michael Krasny show, “Forum,

Good & Plenty candy box whistle.

about a Good & Plenty candy box being made into a whistle. Anyone ever heard of that (besides Krasny)? I was never a fan of licorice candy as a kid, so I certainly would not have learned this trick, but maybe you were? I’d love to find someone who could make the whistle out of the box and do it on video. Let me know, either here or at my Facebook page, Thanks.

Remember Teaberry Gum?

One of my favorite gum flavors when I was growing up. Teaberry is a brand of chewing gum that was developed by the D. L. Clark Company c. 1900. Its popularity peaked in the 1960s. A series of commercials using Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass who performed the song “The Teaberry Shuffle” (originally a [...]

Retro Almond Joy Commercial

Marv’s post about 5th Avenue Candy Bars included an old black and white commercial for the bars. I thought… Hmmm, what other retro candy commercials are there in YouTube Land? Here’s one that looks like it’s from the 70′s. Simpler commercials for simpler times.

5th Avenue Bar was a childhood favorite until…

People who enjoy a 5th Avenue these days would be very surprised to learn that back in the 60s and before, a 5th Avenue had something extra – and it’s missing today! What was it? First, some back story: Back when a 5th Ave was my favorite candy bar (I was 5-6 years old, somewhere [...]

World Record for Straws in Mouth?

While I was searching for a few more “giant candy” type videos I somehow came across this guy. OK, nothing to do with candy, but it’s pretty ridiculous and amazing at the same time. So I’m just throwing it up here for a laugh – check it out.

Weiner Candy Jokes Continue.

So, what’re ya gonna do, ignore all the fun? I thought I had seen the best of the Weiner/candy connections but I should have known: there is always one more to discover. These I found at Enuff said.
