Cadbury Chocolate Harder to Melt

Cadbury bar

Found this story rather interesting. Won’t apply to us here in the USA (AZ could be a candidate tho) since it’s an Eastern Asia product,  but shows how candy science marches on!

No Goo-Goo Shortages!

No Goo-Goo shortage at my house!

Yes, I’m pleased to report that there will be no shortages of G00-Goo Clusters in the Parker housefold for the near future. A generous client found out that an acquaintance had an “in” with the Nashville candy manufacturer so she arranged for these samples to be sent to me. So, to her I say “thanks” [...]

“Hot Chocolate” has new meaning!

Photo: Joseph Erdos. This calls for a taste test… serve it with Mexican cocoa and macaroons for the total taste bonanza!

Off to the Fair, I Go!!

Taking a week or so to go on the road visiting as many State and County Fairs that I can fit into my schedule, but I will attempt to post stories as often as I can, filled with the fun and excitement (and candy) that Fairs bring to us all. And, since I enjoy the carnival rides as well, I may be spending a good amount of time upside down!

Let the fun begin!!

Fair rides offer new perspectives on candy.

County Fair Candy Taste!

What you see here is a handful of goodness…. a pile of Jelly Bellies whose flavor leaps out at you and says “midway candy at the County Fair” in no uncertain terms. This flavor, one of the many that Jelly Belly’s offer, is pure caramel popcorn. Amazingly realistic. Easily my favorite JB flavor. And [...]

Summer Means County Fair Candy!

Yep, that time of year again. County fairs across the country, all filled with an amazing assortment of tempting candy treats, many only found at fairs. I’ll be highlighting some of the more unusual (or fattening) offerings in the coming months, especially after my trip to Wisconsin next month. That’s the location of the photo. [...]

Candy Corn In Space! Who Knew!

Found this amazing story on the Science Friday website about candy corn (one of our perennial faves): NASA astronaut Don Pettit chose candy corn for his five and a half month stint aboard the International Space Station and made this video:

Girl Group, the Raisinets, Can Dance Too

Remember the “Heard it thru the Grapevine” singing raisins for a cereal several years back? Well, turns out that now a candy maker is using the same meme, only girl raisins this time to market the candy Raisinets. Here’s the video to prove it:

Peanut Butter Fudge, the All-American Candy

Being a peanut butter fan and a fudge fan, I especially like the two combined. This may be the first All American candy…. after all peanut butter was invented as we all know by the good Booker T Washington in Alabama. So, without his fabulous discovery, no peanut butter fudge. This recipe seems straight forward [...]
