Cadbury Chocolate Harder to Melt

Cadbury bar

Found this story rather interesting. Won’t apply to us here in the USA (AZ could be a candidate tho) since it’s an Eastern Asia product,  but shows how candy science marches on!

No Goo-Goo Shortages!

No Goo-Goo shortage at my house!

Yes, I’m pleased to report that there will be no shortages of G00-Goo Clusters in the Parker housefold for the near future. A generous client found out that an acquaintance had an “in” with the Nashville candy manufacturer so she arranged for these samples to be sent to me. So, to her I say “thanks” [...]

“Hot Chocolate” has new meaning!

Photo: Joseph Erdos. This calls for a taste test… serve it with Mexican cocoa and macaroons for the total taste bonanza!

Ga-Ga About Goo-Goos?

Not sure what I know about this candy. Don’t recall ever eating one and since I didn’t buy one, I can’t actually review the taste. I can however review the name! 10 out of 10 in my book!!!

Perfect name for today’s weirdness. I mean, Lady Ga-Ga?? Come on. It’s like the old, wild west…. anything goes. So, like the name but yet to discover if I like the candy. As soon as I try one, I’ll let you know.

Anyone with experience with this candy is welcome to comment.

Wonder if that group, Goo-Goo Dolls knew about these.

Chocolate Event In Charlotte

When I read about this event it made me want to hop a plane and go visit, seeing as how the town is safe from hurricanes for the nonce…..

Mint Flavored Moon Pies – Better Than Cupcakes?

Well, I’m not sure that Moon Pies, a great Southern icon from Chattanooga, is better than cupcakes, but I can say that I was surprised on a recent visit to Georgia to see that two flavors have been added to the Moon Pie line up, one of which is mint. I did not get the [...]

Real Cadbury, from England. Thanks, Stacie!
Written by Marv Parker

The Real Cadbury, At Last!!

My niece, Stacie, was kind enough to bring back some real Cadbury chocolate from England on her last visit. She even remembered that Fruit and Nut was my favorite. As I have explained elsewhere on this blog, there is a distinct taste difference between imported and what Hersheys makes here. It’s a big bar, but [...]

No shortage of Cow Pies!

Despite all the bad news recently, I do have a positive news item to relate…. based upon my research while visiting friends and working for the recall efforts in Wisconsin, I can state with confidence that there is no shortage on Cow Pies…. and I have a photo to prove it. Whew! What a [...]

Jelly Belly Caramel Corn Pic – For Real!

As you may recall (or not) in an earlier post about county fair treats and the like, I posted a photo of what was supposed to be caramel corn jelly beans from Jelly Belly. Turns out I had mistakenly taken a photo of a handful of buttered popcorm jellies. Imagine my dismay!! Well, adhering to [...]

Marv’s Favorite Choc Sauce Video

Hey, gang, finally got it edited and up here on  Click here to see it. Couple notes on the video:  the recipe book is Cocolat, Extraordinary Chocolate Desserts, by Alice Medrich and I think it is still in print. Second, I misspoke in the video, Guittard is in Burlingame, not Brisbane. Big difference, especially [...]

Candy and Baseball – Covering the Bases!

On my recent trip back to the midwest (land of Cowpies) I made a side trip to Chicago where I discovered that Cub fans have a special treat to eat while watching their team lose yet again. I like the devotion to the sport and I like the candybar. Opens up all sorts of possible [...]

Buns of Maple! Wisconsin treat.
Written by Marv Parker

My Heart’s in San Francicso, but my Buns are in Wisconsin!

Well, candy Buns anyway. Found these in Watertown, WI, in regular and Maple flavors, so of course, I chose the maple flavored. Don’t get maple very often out here in California. Made the candy very special to me. This was my first exposure to them. Love the name, regardless of how they taste. Fortunately, they [...]
