Well, I’m not sure that Moon Pies, a great Southern icon from Chattanooga, is better than cupcakes, but I can say that I was surprised on a recent visit to Georgia to see that two flavors have been added to the Moon Pie line up, one of which is mint. I did not get the chance to try one, since I had just finished breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Adairsville when I found them. Somehow I suspect that the mint versions are not as popular as the original… mint almost sounds like it has health benefits and as far as I can determine, there is nothing healthy about eating a Moon Pie. But that doesn’t stop consumers from making them one of the South’s favorite sweet. In another post on this site, I discussed whether we could consider Moon Pies as candy. They way they are eaten, quantity wise, I think justifies calling them candy. What do you think?
